One student also noted that “Catholic students in Myanmar do not have time to cultivate spirituality” since they must worry about their pressing material needs. When these needs are met, the two Myanmar students agreed, some students indulge in sexual activity and drug abuse. Both lamented that many young students today lack a spirit of cooperation and collaboration, and said they believe a Catholic school environment could help give students a better sense of direction in life. “Most become selfish, and with little hope of a higher education or well paid jobs, Myanmar’s young look abroad,” the other student said. On the other hand, Bishop Paul Bui Van Doc of My Tho, head of the Episcopal Commission for the Doctrine of the Faith in Vietnam, said in his report to the gathering that he is happy the Vietnamese government allows the Church to open kindergartens.

At the core of this divergence from spirituality and love of the divine was the notion of racial, tribal and familial superiority, which gave birth to countless monarchist dynasties, each battling the other, all invoking Islam as their raison d’etre. Muhammad would have wept to see how his message was misused to consolidate power and subjugate the people.
With political power as the ultimate goal for most dynasties in Islamic history and even present-day regimes, Islam became merely a convenient method to acquire or hold on to authority. Whether it was from the pulpit or the throne, opponents from within the faith were almost invariably declared as enemies of Islam, and killed. Of course, this was not exclusive to Muslim dynasties. Brothers have killed their own siblings to retain power across the world no matter what their religion.

I would have rather seen the taxpayers’ money put to good use teaching any kind of value system, whether it was basic philosophy or a spirituality or a discipline, something that should be inculcated in our young minds while we have that window of opportunity before they go into, you know, high school and choices and options, and it seems that all of these schools are offering that and it is a concern as a parent that our public school education doesn’t inculcate some of those fundamental moral issues. JENNY BROCKIE: That’s a valid point, isn’t it, Stephen Law? I mean, that is the reason why a lot of parents are sending their kids to these schools, because they want some kind of sense of moral values or they want a sense of values taught that they don’t feel they get through the State system? STEPHEN LAW: Yes, and I think that moral values should be taught in schools.

Genuine spirituality then gives way to a profusion of cults, fads, idolatries, social rituals and hero-worship. “When men stop believing in God,” G.K. Chesterton is alleged to have said, “they don’t believe in nothing; they believe in anything.” Serious conviction is replaced by earnest frivolity, self-transcendence by self-infatuation masking as self-transcendence. Such are the wages of the religious sensibility when it goes off the rails and does not recognize itself as the affective and psychic distortion produced by the vestigial terror of abandonment. It is the weather of the soul that has changed for the worse.
David is currently working on Living in the Valley of Shmoon, from which this chapter is excerpted. It’s a follow-up to The Big Lie: On Terror, Antisemitism, and Identity.

Various Hindu, Catholic, Presbyterian, Jewish, Native American, Methodist, Buddhist, youth, film, spiritual/religious, music, yoga, civil rights, etc., leaders have already issued statements in support of this cause espoused by Rajan Zed.
A prominent Jewish Rabbi, Elizabeth W. Beyer of Nevada (USA), has called for boycott of “The Love Guru” because it “…lampoons Hinduism, mocks Ashram life and Hindu philosophy…” and asking “who laughs at religious practices”.
It may be recalled here that advance screenings of Mel Gibson’s 2004 movie “The Passion of the Christ” were held for clergy and others.

What is spiritual healing and how does a spiritual healer do. These are the two concerns this this article will answer in the most basic terms.
There are many ideas being held on what is spiritual healing. Ideas that portray healing as psychic surgery, falling dwindled and speaking in tongues or laying on of hands to name but a few.
But spiritual healing is significantly more consequently the “side show” theater that we are often times used to seeing. It is a deep and fundamental change in how we view ourselves, the world and God. Spiritual healing lifts a person above themselves so that properties are able to see everything according to a new perspective. Do not be fooled by the theater of “psychic” types, spiritual value increase is an intimate and very quiet pursuit.
Spiritual healing shows itself in the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual tweak in the individual. These fluctuations can be profound and discernable to everyone or they can be subtle and only felt by the person making the changes. Going from physical sickness to a state of recovery is a part of spiritual awakening. Finding peace in emotional calmness is another aspect of change so is witnessed as a person goes through the process of spiritual healing.
The most dramatic half of the process is when one is able to undergo a clearer vision of God and how we relate to God and to each other. This feeling of unity and brotherhood redefines a people life and their direction in terms of career, interpersonal relationships and spiritual growth.
A healer is a facilitator of such a process. A spiritual healer has the ability to “see” the past customer as a total greater then the sum of the parts. The healers job is to help remove blocks to an mortgage holders growth.
How a spiritual guide does their job varies for healer to healer. Most accomplished healers have the ability to see the blocks who are causing the problems in the lives of their clients. The blocks can be physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. Through a combination of speaking to provide awareness and electricity leg work the client is brought from a state of affairs of dis-ease to one of more balance.
A spiritual healer may only see a client yet or twice or like a trusted advisor play a part in an people life for many years. A healers job is to maintain the growth process for as for a while now as a client want to implement change.

The Catholic Church’s head astronomer said this week that it’s OK for Christians to believe in aliens. The Rev. Jose Gabriel Funes of the Vatican Observatory was quoted in an Italian newspaper, “How can we rule out that life may have developed elsewhere? Just as we consider earthly creatures as a brother and sister, why should we not talk about an extraterrestrial brother? It would still be part of creation.” .
