Appealed to U.S. Catholics to renew their spirituality and embrace hope. Not a bad trip, if all goes as planned the next two days. I think I have actually grown quite fond of this pope as a result. He’s no JPII, and he may not care what U.S. Catholics think of him. Popes don’t worry about opinion polls. But I think this trip will help heal and invigorate the Catholic Church in America.
